About Young Leaders
Young Leaders are Explorers aged 14–18 who volunteer alongside adult leaders to help support younger sections in Scouting. At 1st Lemington Scouts, our Young Leaders play an important role in planning activities, supporting games and helping younger members develop confidence and Skills for Life.
The Young Leaders’ Scheme provides opportunities to gain leadership experience, develop practical skills and work towards recognised awards and qualifications, including modules from the Young Leaders’ Scheme and volunteering sections of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
Young Leaders can volunteer with Squirrels, Beavers, Cubs or Scouts while also continuing their own Scouting journey as part of an Explorer Unit. Volunteering is flexible around school, college and other commitments, making it a fantastic opportunity to gain experience, confidence and leadership skills while giving back to the community.
