Emmy
Scout Team Leader
Since joining Scouting in 2018 at 82nd Newcastle, Emmy has become known for her enthusiasm, professionalism and dedication to adventure. She has extensive experience leading young people on once-in-a-lifetime international expeditions and is also a keen paddler and archer.
In 2020, Emmy and Linzi co-founded 1st Lemington Scout Troop, originally meeting at Silver Lonnen before moving to Sugley Church Hall following the pandemic restrictions. Emmy was also awarded the Chief Scout’s Commendation for Good Service in recognition of her contribution to Scouting.

Linzi
Scout Team Leader
Linzi originally joined Scouting at 6th Cramlington as a Cub Helper before moving to 49th Newcastle, where she became Scout Leader when the troop reopened in 2014. She later served as Explorer Scout Leader for Young Leaders in Newcastle in 2018, followed by Scout Leader at 82nd Newcastle in 2019, before co-founding 1st Lemington Scout Troop alongside Emmy.
Professionally, Linzi is an engineer and former university academic. Within Scouting, she is known as a master organiser, badge record keeper and proud POR nerd. She actively encourages participation in the Scientist and Electronics Badges and loves a themed camp — Crystal Maze Camp being a particular favourite.
Team Members (alphabetically)

Andrew
Scout Team Member
Andrew is fairly new to his scouting journey only starting in 2022. He joined the organisation after seeing the fantastic opportunities it provided his own children and he was keen to give something back. He has many years of volunteering experience as a former member of the Sea Cadet Corps.
At 1st Lemington he’s often called upon to use his “teacher voice” when groups of roudy scouts are required to listen. He likes to do regular headcount’s in his own unique style!
In his professional life, Andrew is a primary school teacher with almost 25 years under his belt (hence the teacher voice). He finds working with teenagers a welcome relief from his day job.

Dawn
Scout Team Member
Dawn joined scouting in 2023 at 1st Lemington but has been a parent helper since her daughter joined in 2018. Dawn is seen as the mam of the troop, if you’ve forgotten anything she probably has it . Dawn has worked in the care profession for many years looking after older adults. Dawn finds working with the scouts a very rewarding role and enjoys guiding young people on their scouting journey.

Elise
Scout Team Member
Elise has been with scouting from a young age, starting at the 25th beavers and cubs, then joining the 47th scouts and then Fenham explorers. Here she found more of a love for the outdoors, hiking and camping and tried to throw herself into it when she could and had the opportunity. volunteering what time she had the opportunity to volunteer and work in new sections with the Lemington squirrels. though due to time troubles she then joined the scout section and hasn’t looked back since. Volunteering time and attending semi regularly and go on the camps while focusing on studies. looking forward to the future!

Lesley
Scout Team Member

Lucia
Scout Team Member
Lucia joined Scouting in 2021 alongside her six-year-old daughter, marking the beginning of a rewarding journey for them both. As her daughter progressed through the sections, Lucia became increasingly involved, supporting Beavers and Cubs before stepping into her current role as a Scout team member.
Having spent many of her own childhood summers at organised camps, Lucia remembers the lasting impact that mentorship, guidance and outdoor experiences can have on young people. Inspired by those memories, she is passionate about giving back and helping to shape the next generation in the same way.
Professionally, Lucia works in the commercial property sector and spends much of her time at a desk. For that reason, she embraces every opportunity to get outdoors, enjoying hiking adventures with her family and her dog, Jess.

Will
Scout Team Member
Will joined Scouting in 2015 and became a Young Leader at 1st Lemington Squirrels in 2022 before later joining the leadership team at 1st Lemington Scouts. He is also a member of City of Newcastle Network.
During his time in Explorers, Will achieved the King’s Scout Award and Gold Duke of Edinburgh’s Award and was awarded the Scouts Commendation Award for his contributions to youth-led Scouting and digital media across the District.
Outside of Scouting, Will is studying Aeronautical Engineering at Newcastle College Aviation Academy. He enjoys developing new ideas for programmes and supporting Scouting through websites, graphics and digital media.
